St. James' Episcopal Church was a parish of the Episcopal Diocese of Milwaukee. It was founded as a mission of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in 1857. The current building was built in 1867. It burned on December 31, 1872 with only the walls and bell tower surviving the fire. The church reopened on April 19, 1874.
The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 27, 1979, reference number 79000098.
It is adjacent to the Saint James Court Apartments and the Central Library. Both sites are also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
St. James' Episcopal Church was closed and the building was sold on November 30, 2017.(read more...)
